Bollywood and Boycott Culture

B for Bollywood and B for Boycott , just like the first letters of these two words it’s meanings are also became almost same .somehow these two words are connected with each other, as boycott in Bollywood industry is so much common these days. In India is it became usual for the film makers to be scared  as now a days boycott is haunting cinema in a very different way. People just try to find a small reason to boycott a bollywood film. This became a culture.

While talking about bollywood and it’s boycott culture we always need to keep this in mind that people only try to boycott a film when their sentiments gets hurt. It can be  religious ,cultural or any kind of sentiments . There are other reasons to boycott a bollywood film. We can say people are just not liking the fact that bollywood has became   nothing but just a cheap copy of South Indian  film industry as most of the bollywood films nowadays are copied from south Indian films. According to some people and this boycott trend is increaing because people are more likely to watch contents in OTT platforms rather than going to nearby theratres to watch the so called bollywood films whose most of the films are copies of other industries superfit movies . From past few years and months the Bollywood film industry experienced a dozens of cancellations.

As example the  boycott army puts an effort to boycott Ayan Mukherjee directed film Brahmastra in this year,2022.even before its release on September 9,  Brahmastra witnessed intense online campaigning urging people to boycott the movie for a range of it’s over viewed reasons, including that it promoted nepotism and hurt people’s sentiments. Just like Brahmastra  Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha was also attacked by the boycott army. All the social media platforms were flooded with their old interviews with some social media users asking people to boycott the film. Back in 2018, the Deepika Padukone starrer Padmaavat was  in several controversies even before  its release. In fact, the film was started facing problems since it was on the floors . Not only that it’s set was being attacked by  few groups. Some parts of thr songs Ghoomar was highly criticised.  Later, the filmmaker had to add VFX effects to cover those. The title of the film was also changed from Padmavati to Padmaavat.

Not just these films, Bollywood had witnessed a lot more boycott calls from the audience in last few years. With the  passing years the number of boycotting films are increasing and the culture of boycotting Bollywood continues.
